The AXPC companies as a group:

are leaders in adding domestic energy reserves by being among the most active in drilling natural gas and oil exploration and development wells in the United States, accounting for nearly one quarter of all wells drilled;
produce more than 40% of the natural gas in the United States, and account for more about one-fifth of the country’s domestic oil production;
hold almost 40% of independents’ natural gas reserves, and more than 30% of all US gas reserves;
hold approximately 45% of independents’ crude oil reserves, and more than 25% of total US oil reserves;
are strong players in the offshore Gulf of Mexico, with more than 3,700 total OCS lease interests, more than 2,100 as operator;
have some 2,000 deepwater lease interests in the Gulf of Mexico, including almost 900 operator designations (with almost 700 ultra-deep interests, more than 300 of those as operator); and,
provide jobs in the United States for nearly 38,000 employees, with operations in 24 states.
